RDH, your points are all very valid. By "home brew" I was referring to the 
clamp-the-relay hacks to eliminate any of the fuel pump shutdown protection 
modes combined with a WG spring. A sophisticated home-brew setup by someone 
that knows what they're doing could no doubt exceed the level of complexity and 
performance results of the IA mods. But then it's not "home brewed" anymore, 
it's properly engineered. Based on what I read hear on the q list I think the 
latter scenario would be the exception and not the norm!
