Overboost protection

Hi all,

I just got the new wastegate spring (THANKS, Charlie! I'm mailing the check
tomorrow). I'm interested, as most are, of protecting my engine from melt
down or blow up problems. I've seen two methods discussed here: mechanical,
through pressure regulation, and electrical, through new relays or otherwise
faking the ECU out. There were also several twists mentioned for each of
the basic methods just mentioned.

My question is: is there one method any better than the others? obviously,
just grounding the appropriate pin on the ECU connector has the drawback of
the fuel pump staying on as long as the ignition is on. I seem to recall
(but not fully understand) some more elaborate electrical systems for doing
this. I'm pretty much clueless about the pressure method; I couldn't quite
figure out where the regulator was going.

Forgive me for I have sinned. I haven't checked the archives on this yet.
But...I would be greatful to anyone who could shed some light on either the
electrical (other than grounding out the overboost pin) method(s) or the
mechanical methods. If you have a method of sending wiring or plumbing
diagrams over the net or pointing me to a good source for same, this would
also be very helpful. Please don't say,"See the Bentley wiring diagrams."
I still haven't quite figured them out.

Many thanks. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.
