replacing stereo head unit in a Coupe Quattro

For those Coupe Quattro and 90 owners that have been hesitant to replace
the oem stereo...

I just replaced the oem head unit (Wiesbaden??) in my 1990 Coupe Quattro.
I installed a Sony XR620 cassette receiver/cdcontroller. The installation
was eased by using an "adapter connector" kit, which is basically a harness
which plugs into the oem harness. You then crimp bullet connectors to the
required wires. Armed with my Bentley wiring diagrams, I stepped into the unknown.

Observations:
o regardless of what the radio and wiring diagrams said, the oem output for the
amplified rear speakers must be somewhat amplified (not a pre-amp output),
because the leads to the rear speakers aren't shielded!!! therefore I connected
the rear wires to the amplified section of the Sony, and used the fader to send
a stronger signal to the front speakers...

o the rear amps for the speakers are not controlled by a remote on/off from the
   radio.

o there is a "remote on" for the electronic roof mounted antenna.

o only three wires go to the rear speakers from the head unit, left rear +, -,
   right +

The system already sounds 100& better. For the future: add cd changer, replace
rear speakers, add new amp, replace front
speakers...
