Re: UrQ springs

When I bought my '83 UrQ it had Koni's and supposedly abt springs. The koni's
   ...
The mechanic also used standard 4000 strut bearings, claiming that there is
no significant difference, other than the decimal point in the price.

The story I've heard is that dimensionally they are identical, but that
the "stock UrQ" strut bearings are made much stronger to deal with the
abuse that a stiff (or, in the case of Abt: "****ING STIFF*") "sport"
suspension will deal out, bearing in mind that every impact the sus-
pension takes is transmitted directly to/through that poor ole bearing!
Definitely not simply a case of same part different part numbers and
prices. Or so I was assured by someone who alleges to know these things
(what's-his-name at Sports Wheels, who definitely knows about things
UrQish).
