Re: High Speed Vibes
While cruising to Jacksonville last night I was accosted by a Volvo 850 turbo
wagon. Defending the old girl's honor we leapt into the fray. He faded
after 100 - faint of heart, I guess. The accelleration from 80 (.5 bar) to
100 (1.3 - 1.5 bar = not full throttle!) was inspiring.
About the time I hit 85+, the volume level in the car undergoes a step
increase - virtually a roar. From 90 on, things continue to get louder
w/minor shaking. This is consistant since I've owned it (4 months). Tires
are new (firestone affinity touring), front end aligned, original exhaust.
Car is quiet and Audi-like to about 82 mph.
How about anybody else? Like to know if this is something I should be
concerned about, or just turn the stereo up.
I was plagued by a "vibration" that persisted across new wheels and tires
and multiple spin balances (I watched the guy make it 0.0 on all axes)
with "perfectly round" wheels and tires. Finally, an "on-car dynamic balance"
fixed the problem, no more vibration.
