Stages and Theatrix

..... I took some time to guage my response to your post re your
conversation with Ned.... I am a little more than disappointed that Ned
wants to follow this business plan.... However, he has his reasons, and just
may have enough loyalty from his current customers to support his
ideas....... In the interests of fair play and prolly instant Ned feedback,
my post will be simple and direct.....

The stage II mods that Ned has offered in the past should max at 2 bar......
There were a couple of us folks that had mounted the VERY accurate Hg guage
to replace the inaccurate and slow dash read..... This began the "reversal
of fortune", cuz I was measuring 65+ in of mercury on some bonzai runs with
the stage II box, which translates to 18-19psi, way above Ned's expected
15psi max for the stage II. Which means that most of us with stage II
actually are getting more that Ned might have figgrd......

Which, may be a valid concern on Ned's part...... The stock turbine is
spinning a whole lot faster than the stock turbo, in fact, the stock
turbo/computer max is ~7psi f(and under the best of conditions), so your are
asking the stock turbo (and one with most likely 100k+ miles on it) to almost
triple it's operating perameter for the "actual" stage II box. So far, long
term durability of the stage II setup is fine, but I know Ned's greatest fear
is the "TAP rap" of grenading a car or two...... Even one story, however
lame, of blowing the turbine, can cost Ned some serious profit...... So, for
that reason, I'm not sure I disagree with him.....

However, maybe the net has the experience that Ned needs as feedback..... I
have not seen a post since DEC 94 (my initiation to this list) that showed a
overblow by Ned. Me, I tried to convince him that I really don't care if I
blow a motor or two on my quest for more effective power..... I have BTDT
too many times, and have done a engine swap in my wife's ex-86, it ain't that
hard....... To date, he is not convinced that 1) I might be aware of the
risks and benefits of my actions (heck I had HIS EXPENSIVE RS2 turbo in
pieces within a month of acquisition looking for more power) or 2) that I'm
not going to steal some of his customers and/or 3) that having a loose
marble like me loose, blowing IC'S AND maybe even a motor down the line, is
such a good thing.

I know alot more than I let on to anyone, including Ned, about what is
happening with this turbo and components......... And 2495 for the stage II
with a turbo, is A LOT of money...... Maybe too much..... For that I would
hope you get a RS2 in stage VIII form, cuz I know I paid less, even if you
figgr in the 795 for the stage II box.....

I am in the final stages of the turbo development, and should have the RS2
answers very soon..... The K24 is smaller than the K26, and the K24 really
should be Ned's worries, not the K26, in fact those of you running tweeked
20v turbos really should be taking the grenade precautions....... The 2
k24's on a v8 was my post a while back, a passing comment, and tho I haven't
run any maps, I'm not sure it's out of question, but stock 24's they wouldn't
be....

The fact that I'm popping the IC hardly would be considered lifethreatening
to anything but the IC itself, but whatever....... I am playing in a field
that is beyond the scope of most folks in the mod department, and it is a
development, maybe perceived as competition. I don't compete anymore, tho, I
just have a practical engineering quest for more power, and I'm willing to
make and take ALL the risks associated in that quest.

I know that the turbos that I have put together are awesome, cuz the RS2 is
improved to the point
