PS Rack for 200t/200tq
Happy New Year to everybody.
My PS rack has been leaking for about a year now and figured this was the
time to get it fixed. My driveway would appreciate it.
Over the past year, on two trips to different dealers both suggested the
short rack. My independent shop suggested the long rack. Is there an
advantage one has over the other? I know there its a longer job to install
the short rack and they usually cost less.
Concerning the time involved. The dealers have a flat rate of around $350.
My independent shop says $250. Since there is only a $7.00 hour difference
between dealer and my independent shop, my guess is the independent shop
might be incorrect. in thinking its the same type of install as the 5000
series, however, doesn't the 200 series with its ABS and the airbag make the
job longer and more difficult in removing/installing the rack?
Finally, comparing the energy it takes to turn my wheel now, compared to my
SiL's 1990 100q (I can use 1-2 fingers to turn her wheel), should a new rack
make me able to use 1-2 fingers on mine? If it should and I can't, is there
another "problem" in addition to my obviously leaking rack?
TIA,
Scott
