Fog light switches

Fog light switches:

Not too sure about the eight bladed one, I assume that is a three position
(off/front/front + rear). It may be similar to the six blade switch for the
newer cars (100/200 89+) Most of the newer switches have a similar set-up. I
assume there could be some sort of backwards compatibilty.

The six bladed fog light switch is set-up as follows:

Pin 1 is the power supply for the red illumination, tap off the gray/blue wire
in pin 1 from the rear fog light switch to have this controlled with the dimmer.

Pin 2 is ground for both lights, the red illumination and the nifty green
triangle.

Pin 3 is not used, but is hard wired to pin 6 (you can use it if you like, I
guess) and is also the plus side of the green triangle. Not ground

Pin 4 is also not used, unless you want to attempt to do a sort of Euro
front/rear fog light connection (not recommended, but is required to make the
rear-fog light idiot proof, ie if the rear is on, the fronts MUST also be on)

Pin 5 is the input side of the switch. When closed it connects to pin 3, pin 4
and pin 6. This is the normal position for something like a wire-tap from the
low beam, or maybe your ACC wire.

Pin 6 is the output side of the switch. It is hard wired to pin 3 (then to
green triangle) This is the normal position for your output to the relay, or
direct to fog lights.

As near as I can tell, this is the same switch set-up for front and rear fog
light switches, the ABS switch, and the rear defroster switch. Unless one of us
(Tmein@aol.com or me) is confused, connecting Pin 1 to power and Pin 3 to ground
should make both lights illuminate very dim all the time.

Hope this helps. Any other fog light questions, feel free to ask, I've played
with them way too much.
