Re: Vr's vs Audis

what's the point of 0-60 in 5 seconds when the damm thing weighs 4000
pounds? who can even claim with a straight face that this is a
"sports" or "sporty" car? it is whale blubber.

Time to plant your butt in one eliot.... Not sure anyone who can drive one
well would do anything but laugh at that one, eliot...... And the q's of 89>
vintage can be described nothing short of portly, let's see, 200tq @ 3800lbs
@ 217hp = 17.51lbs/hp, VR4 @ 4000lbs @ 320hp = 12.5lbs/hp, M3 @ 2100lbs @
240hp = 12.9, V8 q @.... Need more? .93 on the g analyst, hmmmm not sure
even the S4 turns that..... A pretty fit pig....... Arnold Swartzenager
comes to mind, very big, heavy, smokes lousy cigars, but also very fit
An interesting article on the PIG...... At the track in the 300hp shootout
the VR4 was second lap wise (2 laps, .2 sec behind Toyota) to only the
monster Supra, that includes the Vette, the 300zx.... Me, I'll take the pig
argument only so far..... New cars are heavy, very heavy, so you can either
make them lighter, or, you can put mucho HP and BIG brakes on them and make
miss piggy a mean machine......
I've driven the Supra, and it is a wild, I mean wild ride (archive Eric F. @
Blackhawk too), however, in terms of plopping yourself in a car and making it
fly, the VR4 deserves the respect it earns every day........
I have also run with two of them at the Grattan event last year, and even my
monster HP could just edge the PIG, and baaaaaarely on the straight.... So
pack on the pounds they did, but this machine should not be sold short of any
handling comparison......
No intention of starting another VR (II) war, I just had to share some
serious reality seat time with those who "raced and won" against the
thing....... Just a big I don't think so on power and handling.....
Surprise maybe.....
