The fact that the fuel pump runs indicates that the ign coil is being
activated, since the FP will stop when this stops. If you have a timing
light you can test different high tension wires to see if one has opened
up. I had a nasty one on the '88 5k, where the resistor in the coil wire
connector broke. It ran for a while, but I had difficulty with starting
as the first symptom before it finally got to the point where the engine
totally lost spark.
