V8 Quattro (1990)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at a 1990 V8 Quattro that apparently has 80Kmi on it, although
the dealer told me that the odometer had been changed, and it now reads at
40Kmi. What's up with that? He's asking $13K. Any words of advice? I just
took a quick look at it in the dark, so I can't tell you much more...

Did the 1990's have the UFO brakes? What about the durability of the car and
it's automatic transmission? How much does a rebuilt or a factory tranny
cost? How much oil does the engine take on an oil change? What parts has
everyone replaced so far, and last, how far (in mileage) has anyone taken
that engine?
Eliot, any comments?

TIA!

BTW, I'm having a burning smell coming in from the vents (Climate control
setting on "Auto") on my Coupe Quattro after starting it up tonight in -5 C
temps. The car has been sitting for about 4 days, covered in snow, which had
iced only on the surface. After I put the control on "Econ", the smell wasn't
as bad, but it's still there! Could it be the compressor clutch going again?
It was bad when I first bought the car in '93. TIA on this subject too!!
