Turbo Modifications ????



Hi there
 I have an 83 AUDI 5000 Turbo,with an 86 Turbo 5 speed tranny,
86 Turbo intake & exhaust manifold & intercooler.
And stock ignition syst. non-computer controlled.
The original oil cooled turbo finally started getting noisey and
not building as much boost.It now takes till 4500 RPM to get to 10 psi
it used to get up to 12 psi at about 3300.
So I got a turbo from the local junkyard (off the same 86)
I have it all disassembled ready to overhaul.
After talking to a few people at  the turbo shop's who aren't too familiar
with modifing KKK turbo's, I have been told by some that both the 
turbine and compressor wheels are smaller ot the 86 turbo than on my old 83
other's say that it is just the turbin wheel ?
Who is right ??
I have not removed my orig. turbo yet as I need to drive my car.
Any one out there know what combination of comp. and turbine wheel's
to use?
I am on a limited budget so any help would be grately appreciated.
I do intend to get the assy. ballanced.
I am mainly looking for an increase in mid and top end power

I hope to upgrade to 87-88 5000TQ engine management system
as soon as i can find $500. then re-chip it ??

It put out about 210HP before the turbo died (dyno tested)
