More experience with the D40M2's...
Well, after being stuck in the house for four days, the plow's finally came
through yesterday afternoon & free'd me. For the interested, the snow we got
Sunday was over the hood on the TQ, and that was NOT a drift or pile of plowed
stuff, THAT's what fell out of the sky (of course, this was about three inches
below the front bumper on my Scout, too bad it don't run...) Anyhow, running
around last night with all the other idiots in their 4X4 Toyota pickups, I
found myself in quite a few sticky situations. Someone on the NET used the
word "scarey" to describe the D40M2's in the snow... I'd have to agree. Can't
stop for anything, and getting going in the first place is fun. You really
need both diff's locked to get anywhere. Cornering is relativly decent, but
I've had more than a fair share of front end plowing, and rear end kickout. If
you're running D40M2's, park the car, or swap 'em if you're expecting snow...
Speaking of which, they tell me this area's getting another foot tonight...
