Saw the following (not so) funny plow problems Monday -
(1) Two pickups that gave high 5's to each other's plow as the drove towards
each other - bent the whole driver's side of the one truck down and back -
OUCH! (2) Guy just starting out for the evening of hig-$$ contract plowing -
BAM! Launched a tranny or clutch or both... Will spend bunch of time trying
to now break even...

Hi everyone,
As I was out there both Sunday and Monday working during the storm, I had an
interesting story to tell:
I was heading home at around 23:00, headed on the highways which were in the
process of being plowed, but since we have Quattros, was actually fun to
drive in! (Although getting out of our UNplowed parking lot was a *little*
trouble - I had snow up to the hood of the CoupeQ, and almost to the
doorsills, and even with the rear diff locked, I did get stuck for a minute
and a half, until the Q gained enough traction to part it's own way through
the white stuff)
As I was almost home (in good time), about 2-3 miles away, I was on one
highway, (NJ Rt. 24w, heading on 287s) taking the off/on-ramp onto another,
when the ramp was all backed up...
leading the caravan of cars/trucks was a huge highway dumptruck that was
plowing the highway and had gotten stuck as he tried to get onto the other
highway. There were three other trucks/plows behind him, and following them
was a mini warning pickup (for the plows), a State Trooper, and a number
(about 3) other cars behind him. We sat there for about 1 hour 15 min until
the Trooper (who didn't bother getting out of his car and flaring out the
exit ramp) decided to heed everyone's advice to back out off the ramp, and
let us exit the highway at another exit. Turned out that the lead plow DIDN'T
have any ballast in it for traction, and was just spinning it's wheels down
there! The wind/snow combination was pretty cold too!
