I'd say it starts with the name - which implies 'chip' changes when
the story is that they are like T.A.P. (with which I've personal
experience) - they just give you a stronger spring and circumvent the
overboost protection inside the ECU ... all the while promoting the
idea that they are changing control maps in the ECU's EPROM.
That's one of the things that inspired me to make a batch of wastegate
springs and 'sell' them with D.I.Y. instructions for $20 - if nothing
else than take business away from the people who are playing with
fraudulent advertising ... plus of course to help the quattro driver
community.
