Re: Anyone ISO a 4000CSQ??

Ok, for those of you that are interested in the 1986 4000 CS
Quattro, I JUST got back from a test drive... here's my impression.

Ok, here are all the vital stats on the car:

1986 Audi 4000 CS Quattro
Red with gray cloth interior
Factory radio (working)
It has the original window sticker still in the car... the list
price back in '86 was about $19,XXX.
It has the service records documented in the book (oil changes
etc.) up to 15,000 miles, but beyond that is not known by me.
The car is a one-owner local trade in (Mason City, IA)... it was
owned by a local doctor (I thought it looked familiar). I
have the name and # of the doctor if any of you wish to
        contact him.
The paint looks good... fading is not substantial.
The window switches and door latches / locks work. The car idles
very smoothly -more so than my '87 4kCSQ. Acceleration was steady and
braking felt good. The steering felt a bit 'loose' to me... my '87
feels slightly firmer for some reason.
It does not have the factory Audi floor mats, but did have mats in
it.
The car is clean, and looks nice inside (and out for the most part).

Problem spots (my gripes):

Slightly dimpled roof of the car... there are two fairly decent
door dings on the driver's side door, and a couple less noticable
ones elsewhere on the car. It has the trip computer, but the little
knob to activate it is missing. The shift knob is loose and can be
turned in circles. (minor thing) The heated seats do not appear to
work (at least not driver's side). The OXS (Oxygen sensor) light
stayed on during my entire test drive. Apparently, the car was
brought in to the shop, and the OXS problem was discovered, but
not fixed (probably due to part cost shock maybe?)

Rust spots... two very small spots just below the tailights, one
small spot on the right rear quarter panel, and another chip /rust
spot on the front passenger door (this one is the most easily
noticed). The wheels are in good shape (left rear has a 'rub'
mark on it... looks like it hit a tall curb perhaps).

Oh yeah, and the turn signal lenses up front need replacing...
they're cracked.

Ok, here's the kicker... the bottom line. The dealer is asking
$6,500 as the car sits right now (The car was advertised in
todays paper for $7490!!! YEAH RIGHT! Personally, I was
amazed... I was trying to sell my '87 4kCSQ last July for about
$5,000 (but mine had 87k on the clock at the time)... even then,
people were 'lowballing' me with bids around $3500 (and our '87 is
not exactly a piece of junk). Ok, When I first pointed out a few of
the problems to the salesman, he said that that would be taken care
of... but then he said the price was "as it sits". SO, there you
have it... any other questions, let me know.

You can reach Schukei (the dealer) at: 515-423-5402 Ask for Tim
Rozen... he's the guy I spoke with this morning and I mentioned to
him how it was posted on the 'net'.

Ok, the usual disclaimers apply here... I have no financial
interest involved here, I just saw the car and thought some of you
might be interested. :)

Best wishes,

Darin
