Cup holders

You know, (well, if you're on this list you have a high probability of knowing) I really love my Audi ('90 100Q), and while I found it's lack of cup holders a nusance, oh, maybe once evey year, I thought that it was cool that it didn't have them. Sort of a serious character, you know? None of that extrainious BS that for some reasons Americans are thrilled-to-tears about; only functional things are included in the car. ( although I wonder about the single rear fog light.. But I guess that's because I live in a 99.99% fog-free area; we get a lot of snow, but then a single rear fog light doesn't help much then either )
So the other day, I was looking at a '90 V8 Quattro ( with the infernal caliper brakes BTW; and no upgraded tranny software. 120k mi, asking $12.5k.. I might offer them $11.5k, and go to $12k..? comments? ), and in the rear seat arm-rest-thingamagigger there was a little storage space...with.. <gasp> CUP HOLDERS?! Anyway, I was pretty shocked. What's the deal with that? Have Audi's from 91 or 92 on had _CUP HOLDERS_!?!? Yuck! While handy _on occasion_, I think that cup holders show a lack of purpose, and general tackyness. At least I didn't see any cup holders in the front of the car.. Maybe it's just for your kids.

Well, no real questions about it.. just something I noticed, and was pondering at work while watching the snow fall. ( cool - slick roads!! Except I'm sure that sometime some fool in a droF pickup is gonna hit me..yeesh. ) So feel free to ignore me, unless you have some comment about the cup holders or the V8 I am considering buying. ( I dunno, it has a LOT of miles on it.. I know the engine is good for it, and many more miles, but I do not know what kinds of maintenence costs I am looking at.. Blower motors, power steering pumps, CV joints, struts, sunroof (already jacked), etc.. )

brooks ' no really, I actually _work_ here!! I don't just sit at the computer all day reading my mail!!! Honest!! '
