86 5Ks CLIMATE CONTROL

I have spent hours looking through the archives, and while I have seen
several relavant discussions, I am still searching for answers...

My '86 5Ks had a bad heater core & blower motor.  I replaced both, and now I
get ALL HEAT, ALL THE TIME!  The heater control valve opens and closes as I
adjust the heater controls.  The vacuum lines all appear to be intact.  I
believe that I got all the flaps properly in place before I put the heater
housing back together, but I haven't had the heart to take it all back apart
again.  

Has anyone been through this before?  Please give me some ideas to check.  I
understand that there is a electronic climate control manual for this car,
but my local dealer says it's out of circulation and unavailable.  I'd
appreciate any help!
