I'll see if I can dig up an Alpine unit for less than dealer $.  If not, looks 
like I'll have to bite the bullet and get the dealer unit.  With the warranty 
and the Audi logo (i like that) on it, it'll probably be worth the difference.

BTW, what is the issue with the Bose amp/speaker.  I've seen a couple of posts 
that did not speak highly of it.  It had orginally been on my list, but I didn't
get it.

Really?  Cool?  Audi's mistake with using Bose speakers is made up by 
using Alpine front ends!

Not for Alpine.  You can't do much better with aftermarket alp units. 
Its well worth it, though, the Alpine changers are the best on the 
market.  The only thing you'd gain from an aftermarket alp is the 
digital output, but most people wouldn't take advantage of that.
