Interior air temp sensor 5000CS TQ

Mike,

Removal of the interior air temp sensor and the aspirator motor is a bit of a pain. My aspirator motor
died in my 86 5000CS T so I removed the steering wheel and speedo/gauge cluster along with the trip
computer switch assembly to gain access to this motor and air temp sensor. The bentley manual did not
show how this assembly came apart so I used a mirror to look up under the thing.

The aspirator motor is encased in a plastic clam shell like housing that has some tangs that must be
unclipped to allow the motor to drop out. The upper part of the clam shell housing is attached/riveted to
the dashboard. The air temp sensor and the little grill assembly are held up underneath the dash with two
push on clips that are a bitch to remove. Once the clips are removed the air sensor pulls out from the
bottom and the little grill pulls up out of the top of dashboard. Good luck.

Subject: Interior temp.sensor removal...

Does anyone know how to remove the dash mounted interior temp. sensor on an
87 5kcsTQ? While replacing some guage lights, I tried to access it from the
side, thought perhaps a sliding clip holds it in place, but noooooo, I can't
figure what holds it in place.

To go a step further...I want to replace the vent/inlet to this sensor that
rests on the dash. The sensor works fine, I just don't like looking at the
broken vane on it. Is that part of the sensor, or does it separate from it?

Thanks,
Mike Aiello
