Anyone up for an oil seminar?

OK folks, would there be any interest on the Quattro list for a series of
posts on lubricant performance and theory?

They would cover things like base stocks, refining, formulation goals and
additives, metrics, testing mechanisms and procedures (ASTM procedures,API
service categories), terminology, etc. Not top-secret stuff, but things
that might be of interest to an informed motorist.

They would be drawn from 2 texts produced by the Lubrizol Corp (for which
I'm a contractor). They will be non-commercial in nature, and include as
much empirical information as possible, along with citations where
available. They will be posted as my time permits.

I hope I can pull this off. I'm not an expert, but I'll be glad to pass
along some of the information available to me. I think many people will be
suprised to know how much effort goes into the stuff in the quart
bottles....
