     I recently got a used hydraulic hood support for my '88 90Q from 
     Shokan (1-800-ALL-AUDI) - approximately $25.  5 minutes to install - 
     works great.

Hi...They should support the hood with a considerable amount of stuff on the 
hood ...chances are one or both have lost some p.s.i......new ones are pretty 
exspensive...since it's a 85 and they dont go bad all that often due to 
the,,Hopefully low cycle amount of times they go up and down(not like the 
trunk), I think a used set will do ya fine. .......
