I think the DMV would've caught an incorrect model or model year when 
they typed the VIN into their  computer.  I know from experience that 
they'd catch it in Michigan - the previous owner of my '85 5ks told 
me it was an '84!  As you can imagine, that caused me a bit of 
consternation...
