HVAC aspirator motor
Tinkerers,
If anyone has the rather certain misfortune of having to replace
the aspirator motor (the little motor/fan assembly that draws inside air
across the inside air temperature sensor) make sure you replace it with a
Nippon Denso part from a Chrysler or a Lexus. They may be found on other
cars also, but I know they are on these cars at least, because I have just
finished a test on these parts. They draw a decent amount of air, and
they are VERY QUIET! Much quieter than the original. I'll be using one
particular N-D part (I think it is on the LS400) when the time comes to
replace it in my 5KCSTQ.
This mod will likely require a little bit of McGyvering, because
you'll prolly want to use the Audi temp sensor, to make sure you don't
screw up any of the Audi HVAC calibrations (like they are that great in
the first place! Hah Hah!)
But, for those of you that can hear the aspirator when your engine
is idling, that noise WILL go away with the N-D aspirator. It's a
brushless motor that is really neat to see inside!
