braking system ??

Hi everyone,
When I brake, occasionally there is a very distinct "pop" sound from 
the passenger side of the car ('90 90q20v).   I am not even sure it 
is from the brake system.   It usually happens when it is towards the 
end of the braking excursion.   There is no any sign of malfunction.  
Any idea from the q club ?
