More A4 vs 3-series bimmer

Note: I am posting these messages in the spirit of friendly cameraderie and perhaps
friendly competition among lovers of fine German cars, whatever the marque. If someone
has a strong opinion that this dosen't belong here, please let me know.

Subject: A4 v. 325

I drove everything I could, including an A4, before buying a new BMW last
fall. The A4 warrants serious consideration. But, although it has that
characteristic "German Feel"t, it handles less precisely than the 325 and
the engine is less responsive. The seats are comforatble, but I couldn't
get the seat to support my legs as well as in the 325. The inside is very
nice, and fitted with the latest goodies from the A6 (like a sun angle
sensor for the A/C). Stuff like headlight washers and fold-down rear seats
are standard items. My wife pointed out that the cloth panel (with or
without leather) on the inside of the door will get dirty fast. Conclusion
     - nice car, less money, free service for a while, pleasant to drive, but
not near as sporty as the 325. BTW, my previous car was an E30 325e.

Rich: Just because I'm biased doesn't mean I'm wrong :) ...anyway, the Audi
A4 is a real nice looking car with a pretty nice interior but that's just
about it. If you are a performance minded person and are likely to buy your
car with a stick, I think the BMW is worth the extra cash. The A4's 12 valve
6 cylinder engine is nowhere near as smooth or powerful as the 24 valve 6 in
the bimmer. And besides power deficiency, the whole attitude of the car (the
Audi) seams wishy-washy to me (I drove one two months ago). The one nice
thing though is that you can get it in and "IX" version [aka: quatro]. :)

Buy the bimmer.
