i believe the car should be level while adjusting the brake compensator         
valve (or whatever it's called).                                                
i haven't read the procedure for the TQ's but i installed a Sachs kit once      
in a 4KQ and either the kit or the 4KQ Bentley mentioned this.                  
also, i recently helped a friend install a lowering kit in his passat           
and the kit came with a plastic replacement piece that changed the              
effective length of the spring.
