I hate to say it (THis is no reflection on you Peter!) but a friend with 
an 87 5ktq had the superchips mod done. Although performance was 
generally better, he had surging and idle problems after a while. It was 
diagnosed as the ECU, and it needed to be replaced. Instead of replacing 
it, he put in his stock chip, and all his problems went away. I have no 
idea if this was actually the problem or not, (since they dont actually 
touch the chip, right?!?!?!!!) or more likely a connector problem along 
the way.
