Air filter in 1991 200tq20v and bad connectors

I replaced the air filter in my '91 200tq20v this weekend. It seemed
pretty simple to get out (just disconnect the air mass sensor
connector and take off the intake hose to the turbo and undo 3 clips),
but when I got the box out, I notice that there was a (corroded) screw
which also us used to fasten down the box in a place where a clip
would be impossible to fasten. Getting it all back together, I found
I could not get to the screw to tighten it, since it is located next
to the fender wall, and you'd need a foot long screwdriver to be able
to even touch it. So, I left it undone (as had the previous
servicer). So how DO you get to tighten this screw w/o removing the
fender :-)

On another note, I noticed that the air mass sensor connector had one
of its contacts "pushed back" into the connector body. I pulled off
the rubber boot, pulled out the contact and widened the spring clips
which retain it, and then snapped it back into the connector body. I
can't sense any difference in running, but I note that my dash
voltmeter is now reading a little bit higher and more like it should
be. Hmm...Audi electrical gremlins at work. BTW, I found one of
those connector problems on my '84 4000q too, only it was what the
rear window defogger. Love those AMP connectors....
