fwd: re: Re[2]: ATTN: Coupe Quattro owners
Tim, I just found a cool service on the 'net that is a white pages for the
world, http://www.switchboard.com. I found 305.471.9507 as Antenna World's
phone number in Florida.

Tim, I tracked down a wholesaler in Florida, called Antenna World, thru 800
info. They would only sell to reseller, for about $100, but since I didn't
have a tax ID, they had to have someone (can't remember who) drop ship it.
It ended up costing about $150.
It is almost invisible as a cellular antenna, the only visible difference
between ones I have seen on other coupes is the base on gen-u-wine coupe
antennae has a chrome trim ring where the removeable part ends that is
missing on mine, and the cellular preload twist is there. The preload (I
think that's what it is, anyway) is very tightly wrapped around (and
shrink-wrapped) the mast of the antenna, barely visible. The antenna work
just fine, AM sucks, but that could be either a result of lack of content
on the AM band (editorial comment) or the fact that the AM part is
amplified and I neglected to connect power to the antenna.
It replaced a third party antenna I inherited with the car when I bought it,
so I can't comment on replacing the original, but it fit very nicely into
the roof hole just in front of the rear hatch. Wiring it through the
interior trim was painful, but it worked. I had to get an adapter between
its cellular end and my cell 3w amp, for about $5.
