Re: What to do!
I discovered that there are 2 catalytic converter in the V6. Mine are
still fine since my car only has 26,500 miles. By the way for those who
has a V6, I also notice that it has dual 3 wires oxygen sensors! Funnily
my oil pump was replaced under warranty recently. The catalytic converters
are made by Leistritz so maybe he can get it from their vendors. I've seen
Leistritz advertised in European Car before. By the way the catalytic
converters in the V6 are flat and thin squarish looking not like the 'can'
shaped one in I5 engine, I don't think the generic 'can' shaped ones will
fit deal to it's location. I remember when I used to have my 85' 5000s,
the converter went bad, I checked with the dealer and they want $810 plus
tax and labor, I ended up buying a generic one made by 'Walker', including
tax and installation $225.
I also remember seeing an ad. in European Car magazine, there is a store
that sells alot of exhaust and cat stuffs for Audi/VW/BMW. As for oil
pump I'll check with like Clair Audi and Carlsen Audi and maybe bring
your own part to the dealer to install and you still get a one year
warranty from Audi for the part since it is a factory part.
