Lights in bumper

All,

Just for the newbies that weren't around when this came up last
time (you ole timers can hit delete any time now:-)

I bought a set of the cheap Blazer projector beam fog lamps from
Walmart a while back. I drilled two holes right in the front of the
bumper, 2" in diameter, and mounted those proj beam fogs INSIDE the
bumper. They shine through the 2" holes, and look _almost_ factory. At
any rate, they certainly look "cool." Unfortunately, they are not very
effective, although they do increase the amount of light on the road, so
tye do improve on the stock Audi 5KCSTQ lights, but that still isn't
saying very much. I figured that if they were really bad, I could always
buy a set of the PIAA projector beams and mount them in the same place,
and use the Blazers for backup lights or lawn tractor lights or something.

Anyway, I am getting more and more p***** all the time, so one of these
days, I am going to drive to Lansing, pick up some serious epoxies, and
start building some serious lights. I think I'll use projector beams for
the low beams, and a pair of 4x6 rectangular H1 high beams. That should
solve the problem. I'll mount the whole works behind a clear lense that
is the same shape as the original headlight, and the bezel that mounts
these lights will be chrome plated, so the whole thing will look OEM.
That's important in case smokey ever decides to investigate. I've been
saving parts/pieces, and have even been offered help from a couple fellow
listmembers, so I think that this project is quickly climbing to the top
of my priority list.
