Halogen designations...

I was looking at some new fog lamps to replace my old ones, after their
abismal performance in a heavy snowfall two weeks ago...  No snow glare, 
but not enough light to see the road well...

After looking at some Hella's, I noticed that MOST have 55W bulbs like
my current...  but are designated as H-1 or H-3.

Can anyone tell me what these mean, and which are better for DRL/glare
usage?
