Towing Capacity

     Last week Linus Toy asked for towing capacity stats on Audi models not 
     imported in the U.S.  I have quite a few 1980s/'90s Audi sales catalogs 
     from Germany and other European countries, some of which contain this 
     information.
     
     Depending on year and model, specs can be quite detailed, broken out 
     by engine, transmission, maximum gradient, braked/unbraked trailer, 
     altitude, etc.  I'll list a couple of examples, but it's an awful lot 
     of arcane information to include here.  If anyone is interested in 
     stats for other years/models, please contact me directly.
     
     1987 ur-Q, braked trailer, max. 12% grade, 3300 lbs.  
                unbraked  "      "    "    "    1320 lbs.                   
                  
     1994 A8, 2.8 braked trailer, 12% grade manual transmission 3300 lbs.
               "    "       "      "    "   auto        "       3520 lbs.    
               "    "       "     8%    "   either      "       4180 lbs.    
               "  unbraked  "     8%or12%   either      "       1650 lbs.
             4.2Q braked    "     12% grade auto        "       4290 lbs.

     All weights converted from kg., 1 kg = 2.2 lbs.  Subtract 10% 
     capacity for each 3280 ft. above sea level.
