Re: Driving Lights, Bosch

Well, I just completed my installation of the Bosch driving lights
on the wifes 89 100 Avant. Thank you Mr. Twain for providing
some instruction and recommending the hood latch cable as a
route to follow for the wiring. Worked like a champ :-)

I agree the underside of the bumper works for locating the lights,
unfortuantely I coudn't get the bumper off, didn't have the correct
allen wrench and when I visited sears earlier this week the only
socket set they didn't have was...... you guessed it the ones with
allen heads!! dddoooohhh!!

So I drilled the holes with the bumper attached. I'm so glad the
bumper is aluminum..... drill went right thru it.... if it were 1/4"inch
steel I could of been there all day.....

Another unfortunate thing is that the center console with all the switches
is already full up with (2) seat heater switches, rear defroster, rear fog
lamp, anit-lock, and small bin. So were to put the switch..... I ended
up with it on the far left side of the drivers parcel shelf, hanging from above.

You'd never see it unless you knew it was there.

I attached the power lead to the auxillary battery post under the hood.
Took the bolt off and then put it back in with the power lug.

ok, The lights look good and they throw much better light than stock.

I was planning to run it with the toggle switch for awhile and adjust the
lights if people start high beaming me.... when no one high beams me
anymore then I wanted to hook them up to the existing lights so that when
the normal low beams are on the driving lights would come on as well.

I'm sure I could pull the switch apart and figure the wiring out, my concern
is will I burn some wires with 2 sets of lights running of them ? do I need a
relay to do this ? if I do need a relay, where do I get one and how do you
hook it up?

Thanks for any advice guys :-)
