Throwout Bearing Noise
Okay fellow listers, anybody out there ever experienced that wonderful noise
(To me it sounds like a duck quacking) when you step on your clutch? It
happened in my 85 4Kfwd and it happens in my 86 4KcsQ. When I replaced the
clutch in the 4K, it didn't go away, and I'm sure it's because the el-cheepo
clutch place that did the job didn't lube the throwout bearing sleave.
What I want to know is if there is any procedure to lubricate the bearing
without tearing down the transmission. I've heard it's possible to drill a
hole in the bell housing and getting some grease up there. It's really an
annoying sound, and I know that it makes the peddle REAL heavy.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
