The 1991 200tq20v  was the first production Audi q car to get the k24.......
 The S4 got the turbo and a new motronic system that pumped up the output of
the motor to 227/257 @ 1950 vs 217/220 @1950.....  this was accomplished
mostly with the "timed overboost" circuit in the S4 computer....  

Glen, if you have a wastegate mod in the 87 it should max the boost @ 1.5
bar.....  The 88 should see that only on the best of COLD days.....  You
could have a wasted boost transducer that could be giving you more boost on
one than the other.....  No real way to tell with the dash guages.....  Hook
up same pressure guage to both cars and go for a drive.....  Should prove
most revealing....  If you have the 87 going slower, you have a prollum with
it somewhere......
