Re: Rear Speakers on 90Q
I am not sure about the 90Q but I have a Coupe Q and the rear speakers
are not worth keeping just based on the sound they produce. They also
have a strange piggy-back amp/crossover that is completely inferior.
When I originally hooked them up, I had a serious ground loop problem
that caused a large pop whenever I powered on the head unit(Alpine).
The wiring is kind of screwy also. You have to hook up the white
leads to switched power(from head unit) for those rear amps to come
on. I just replaced my rear side woofers with a set of Blaupunkts
and they made all the difference in the world. My friend has a '94
90CSQ and the people he took it to really screwed up the system by
trying to use the rear speakers. The fronts and rears are connected
to amplified output from the head unit(sony) and he has to power on
the rear amps to hear anything. When he adjusts the volume, the
fronts increase at a diff rate than the rears!
Trash-em, start from scratch all the way around.

THere has been much talk about stereo installations to get rid of your
crap radios they came with. I plan on ripping mine out and putting in a
good one, but it looks like it will include speakers as well. Im looking
at a midrange stereo (top of the line Alpine is still only midrange I
think...). Is it possible to use existing speakers or dont even bother.
Also...If anyone is intimate with Alpines, please email me directly.
TIA
Bob
