Amp whine fix?

I have a 85 5K with a Jensen amp.  Mounted it in the trunk.  I used the
RCA cable output from my CD player to the unit and never had amp noise.  
I also hooked the power and ground stright to the battery.  NOW, on the same
hand, my brother installed a much cheaper jensen in the same 5K and without
running RCA cables, just using the regular speaker line, got noise.  SO moral
of the story, try using RCA cables.  (And by the way, noise filters didn't
work for him either )
