Bad Transmission?

Okay, I have just sold my '87 5000S and bought a '91 200, and I am
wondering if the automatic shifting is supposed to feel different
between the cars.  The '91 200 sounds like it is revving slightly
between gears, and almost sounds as if it has a hard time getting into
the 3rd gear.  The transmission oil is at the correct level, looks good,
and does not smell burnt.  I'm trying to figure out if this is normal
for this car or if I bought something which I'm going to have to sink a
lot of money into right away.  Any ideas?
