Here's info we got from Petrosin. This is the brand most quality German 
repair shops use.
CHF 7.1  Green cap Mineral oil and special additives meets specs 
DIN 51524T2 ISO 7308  temperature range for use -40 deg. C. 
to +100 deg. C   for Audi and VW 1984 through 1989

CHF 11.8 Red cap  based on synthetic oil  meets specs DIN 
51524T2 ISO 7308  temperature range for use -40 deg. C. 
to +130 deg. C   for Audi and VW 1990 on 
Audi/VW part #G002000

We have had good luck with a few brand names that many good parts 
stores or mailorder houses may carry. Designer Mat is the one we use 
the most and Lloyds is another and I believe who makes them for 
VW/Audi dealers.
