TQC boost problem?
Folks,
I need you suggestions on this one.
Started up the car today and drove two miles to supermarket and back.
No problem.
Went to go out again 5 minutes later but when I started the beast the idle
was VERY rough! Sounds very much like the ign. timing is way out? Strong
smell of fuel from exhaust. I gave her a bit of throttle but revs increase
slowly
and very rough...popping sound thru exhaust. I then noticed that the boost
gauge on the dash (digital) is reading max boost ALL the time even when the
engine is not running! Before now I noted the boost gauge would always read
atmospheric pressure until I started the motor. I know the weather has been
pretty good here for the last few days as we have high pressure over the
country, but 2.1 bar!!
My theory is the brain thinks I'm overboosting and is retarding the timing.
How can there be overboost even when the engine is not running????
Any help appreciated.
