Rear Diff/Switch Fixed!!!
Ladies and Gents:
With reference to the '90 80Q, I believe I mispoke when I said "Torsen"
switch, I meant rear diff switch. Anyway, the light on the switch was out,
as were two of the three lights on the indicator for the rear diff.
Anyway, I thought (after many suggestions) that there was a problem with
the system itself, but thought I would look at the switches first. I
removed the central console and the gearshift plastic housing and looked
around. The diff switch had become loose, so I reconnected it and voila.
The indicator lights were out as well. The circuit board inside the
housing has three bulbs, two of which are out. I am going to take this to
a specialty electronics place to solder and replace the microbulbs (Radio
Shack, et al. did not have them). I will not mess with the soldering, as
it is too close to the circuit paths and may fry them with the heat.
The main thing is that the rear diff works. I was wondering if anyone has
replaced these switches or the circuit board, and what the cost was.
Thanks,
The Judge
