... I've got pretty strong calf and thigh muscles myself from pushing 200
pounds of me plus a bicycle up hills, so other than the surprise that I
had to push harder than normal to get the car to slow down there was no
problem initially hauling down the urQ with a dud. The problem that I had
was the fact that the PS pump was still in operation and capable of provid-
ing high pressure ... eventually. IME the problem was after a second or two
when the pump caught up with the demand and started applying the boost.
After having wailed on the pedal to get the car to slow down, now I'm faced
with locked wheels and having to back off the pedal in a major way. Perhaps
it's not so big of a deal with an ABS equipped car ... but I find I'm think-
ing about Scott's trademarked phrase ... "The why question comes to mind."
If ya got a broken car, why don'cha go out and get it fixed (especially if
the problem is related to the braking system)? If you're in a panic stop,
you're already dealing with something unexpected ... why complicate the sit-
uation?

BTW - I replaced the dud shortly after I got the car (probably 1986-87) with
one purchased from a dealer. The original bomb was spherical while the new
one was like a rounded off cylinder on top with a hemispherical bottom. Never
had a bit of a problem with it since ...
