Lower Control Arm boots

My mechanic tells me that I have recently torn a small hole
in the grease boot on one of my front control arms ('89 100Q).

For now, I figured on wrapping it in plastic and duct taping
it together to buy me some time.

Questions: is the boot itself (or some kind of repair kit) available
from any source? The dealer says the whole arm is needed: $$$$$.

If I go to a boneyard, should I just grab a boot or two, or should
I look for a whole control arm? What is the procedure for removing
either one of the above?

Unrelated question: one of my hood hinges is bent, so the hood
only opens a foot or so. My mechanic has seen this before. I assume
I can just unbolt a new hinge at a boneyard and bolt it on?
