Re: 86 4000q cooling fan

the tamp switch on the bottom of the radiator is shot. Mine does the same and
   I
did a continuinty test on it when it is cold (therefore, open) and I still got
current through it. Unfortunately, I have had no time to drain my rad to
change the thing so I just unplugged my fan (for now, it is winter in ME) and
am waiting until I have the money and time to replace it. Should be anytime
   now

Dunno 'bout the 4000 series; on my UrQ when I swapped the temp sensor on
the radiator it was trivial -- it's easily accessible from the left wheel
well, and spilled about 4 tablespoons of coolant total. It's the only
"easy" operation I can ever recall doing on that beast . . . easier than
the plugs by a long shot!
