Coupe Quattro headlights

Peter:
The autocheck circuit only monitors low-beams, not the
high-beams. I'm not sure if the circuit looks for differences in
resistance or current between the two low-beam lights, or
compares it against a value. In any event, look at your wiring
diagram, find the output of the headlight check circuit to the
autocheck computer, remove the wire from the connector. This
is what I had to do when I relayed my headlights in a similar
fashion. To get at the connector, remove the undertray above the
drivers feet, and its up in there. I cant't remember the exact
location on the auxillairy connector panel, but I can check tonight
on the color and pin number if you want. If you have the electrical
troubleshooting guide (Bentley) it is invaluable.
