Re: Instrument Bulbs, Sunroof Lube & Interior "Roof" Cleaner
dismiss@earthlink.net, I am not sure this will be very much
help....but....who knows?
I have a 91/90Q (the 80 is probably the same) and it is possible to remove
the instrument cluster without taking off the steering wheel (air bag and
all):
1. Remove the top part of the cover behind the steering wheel. There are two
phillips type screws that you access from the bottom sides of the lower part
of the cover.
2. Remove the two screws holding the instrument cluster in place. Bottom
middle.
3. With great care not trigger the air bag gently pull out the cluster and
unsnap the connectors behind it with your hand (a smallish hand helps).
4. Once you have completely disconected the cluster gently fiddle with it,
moving it out on the right hand side first, pull gently turning it slowly on
its side. Then get the left hand side out and pull the cluster out towards
your right from behind the steering wheel.
5. You''ll need some patience. You put it back the in exactly the reverse
order.
I have done this a number of times with mine and it works.
Lubricate the sun roof with a small amount of silicone lube on the runners.
Re the headliner, I would try a mild carpet detergent. What ever you do, you
run the risk, when you clean it, of leaving a very clean patch in the middle
of a not so clean whole.
Good luck.
