It is possible for the wheel bearings to fail and become noisy without
appearent play, which makes them difficult to diagnose sometimes. They
can often be heard by running it in gear up in the air (on a hoist).
You may want to look closely at your front "A" arm bushings, as they seem to fail quite often. When they fail they allow the "A" arm to thump against the sub frame.
