<All> GEICO Srikes Again

In my continuing dislike of GEICO, I found another gem in the May
(yeah, I know, it's April) Car & Driver. In Letters to the Editor, a
Florida reader writes that he called them for one of their "no
obligation rate quotes". He now says he is fighting with the FL
division of driver licensing to get two citations off his record -
neither of which should appear on it. Evidently in checking his
record, GEICO notified FL of two citations which did not belong on
his record - one in CA for which he attended a class, and a second in
FL which he took to court and in which the decision was "not guilty".

The letter is not completely clear on the mechanism by which this
took place, but it's yet another reason to have nothing to do with
GEICO - even as far as having them quote you rates. They will screw
you any way they can - they love to have a reason to raise people's
rates.

I called them once - and was asked if I owned a radar detector. I
asked what their response would be if I said "Yes", and they
responded that they wouldn't insure anyone who owned one. When I
asked what happened if I said "No", they responded: we can't go any
further with the interview since you've already said "Yes". I
exercised great self-control in not sharing some choice Anglo-Saxon
adjectives with the phone op, since they were not the one to create
such asanine policies and should therefore not be abused.

Now, think about this: if I am ever asked "Have you ever been turned
down for insurance?" A totally truthful reply would be Yes....which
will do me no good. Of course, I am unlikely to be so altruistic as
to reply truthfully.

GEICO = BUTTHEADS.
